Forging Ahead

Overview

We were contacted early in 2006 by Janet Johnson, who had taken on the huge task of hosting and organising the 24th National Practice Nurse Conference which was to be held in Sheffield in 2007. Branded as ‘Forging Ahead’, Janet needed to brand up the conference and produce marketing material which would both advertise and generate attendance to the event.

The Brief

To produce a professional identity that would be representative of the city of Sheffield and capture the readers’ attention. Janet’s only real specification was that she wished the logo to be in the blues and greens of the Sheffield City Council logo.

Results

We started by exploring the option of using logos which would use typical ‘Sheffield’ imagery and icons. However, Janet was not comfortable that this produced exactly the image she wanted for the conference therefore Janet, along with the board of nurses involved in the conference, settled upon a very simple and stylized logo which was self contained and for them illustrated the ‘forging ahead’ in their field that the conference represented for the practice nurses attending.

We then applied this identity across a range of material from Stationery, Postcards, Booking Brochure and advertising in industry-specific magazines.

After much hard work for Janet and her team the conference came to fruition and was a great success, gaining attention from the Mayor of Sheffield.

Janet commented:

"Sheffield Practice Nurses hosted the 24th National Conference in Sheffield in 2007.
We needed a logo to sell the conference
and were fortunate to find Printing.Com.
We worked together for 2 years and were delighted with the results. The team were always helpful, full of ideas for us to consider, and very patient with us when
we were unsure. We would not hesitate
to use them again."
