How the Colour Free Visions Poetry workshop day works.

Once our admin team have secured dates and rates with yourself and contacted the allotted arts practitioner you will receive our full support pack and will enter into a stage two creative brief with the artist themselves. This is usually via email and phone to tailor your day to your specific needs, numbers, themes, locations and timings. Our experience tells us that each school is different so this personal creative brief will sort any finer details prior to the visit.

Artist will aim to arrive around 8.30 am and install in a large hall or library space dependant on numbers and will require tables and chairs for team seating of approx 5-  6 persons per table. A flip chart / wipeboard, paper and pens are required.

The workshop is designed in the morning to engage and empower with high energy competitive writing tasks leading to a short time in the afternoon to practice their group pieces written earlier.

The end hour is a poetry slam where each team perform approx 1 – 2 minutes of performance poetry, judged by three staff members.

The winners on the day have the chance to enter the U.K. Schools Poetry Slam Championship in July each year.
