Brilliant Bilton!
Bilton School is celebrating a record-breaking set of GCSE results, with a massive rise of 15% in the number of students achieving 5 A*-C grades including maths and English.
We still have a number of results from College courses to put onto our system, and there may be students who wish to re-sit or have their exams re-marked, but already 60% of our students have achieved 5 A*-C grades including maths and English and well over 70% have achieved 5 A*-C grades overall. We are also very pleased that 97% of our students have achieved 5 A*-G grades, which is well above the national average and school predictions.
Our data was telling us that the hard work of staff and students was having a real impact on progress, and we had a really positive Ofsted inspection in May which supported our view about how much the school has improved.
We are delighted for every single one of our students who has met or surpassed their target grades at whatever level. As well as getting the grades they need to pursue their dreams, students from Bilton will enter the world of work or further education with a sound set of values and principles.
So many of our students achieved outstanding results this year; Jack Schofield-Newton achieved 7 A* and 4 A grades; Josh Poole achieved 6 A*, 4A and 1 B grade and Lauren Holt achieved 3 A*, 7 A and 1 C grade.
Many of our students also succeed against the odds. Hugo Santos came in to the school two years ago speaking little English; he will be leaving us with 10 A*-C grades.
This improvement is just the beginning! The modular results from Year 10 and even some of our Year 9 students who have already begun their GCSE courses are hugely promising.
We have changed our curriculum so that our students can begin their GCSE’s in Year 9 and so can take additional GCSE’s or AS Levels in Year 11. Already this year one of our Year 10 students, Nancy Chen has achieved a grade A for AS Level maths – with 100% in her Statistics module!
There is such a fantastic staff at Bilton who are working hard to ensure standards at the school continue to improve; we are aiming to be an outstanding school and these results show just what we are capable of doing.
