Matclasses -
Booking for Winter Term 2010
Opens 23 November!
Mat classes are recommended for those who have no
serious injuries, who like the social aspect of a class
environment and who can commit to a scheduled time
each week. Mat classes are run on a school term basis
and are organized by ability level (Beginner to
Advanced). Matclasses use both the pilates mat, as well
as small apparatus – balls, bands, rings and foam
rollers – to support and challenge you.
Beginner classes For those with no previous pilates experience. There are a maximum of 5 students per class. Exercises are designed to establish core stability, lengthen overused and tight muscles, and develop breathing technique and body awareness. Maximum 5 students per class.
Improver classes Having established sound core stability, begin to challenge that stability with more and more dynamic movement. Improving posture is focused upon as is stamina and a stronger core. Maximum 10 per class.
Intermediate classes incorporate “classical pilates” exercises into the class, working at a pace that establishes stamina, continual movement and ensures that every muscle of the body is both stretched and strengthened. Maximum 12 per class.
Advanced classes are tough. Classical pilates is the focus as is the perfection of technique in order to ensure that the movement always comes from the deep core muscles. You need to be injury free and ready to sweat. Maximum 12 per class.
Prices:
Beginner classes:
£200 for Winter Term - 10 Weeks
Improver-Advanced Classes:
£140 for Winter Term - 10 Weeks
Additional Class Discount: Above Prices are for a designated class per week (i.e., the Monday 910 class). A loyalty discount of £25 per term is applied to additional classes purchased within the same term.
NOTE: While you are expected to attend your specific
class each week, we do realize that this is not always
convenient or possible. Therefore we operate a swap
system; if you inform us with 24-hour notice that you
cannot make your regular class, you can swap your
place for a place in another class. Full details of the
rules of the swap system are available from our
reception.

Private Pilates Tuition
Private tuition is for those who want a session totally
designed for their body.
We recommend private tuition if you have been
recommended to Pilates by your physiotherapist,
osteopath, chiropractor, doctor or surgeon. Often in
these cases, you will be able to join a class after a
period of time, once good core stability has been
achieved and your injury has been stabilised.
Private sessions utilize the original Pilates equipment -
Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac and Baby Arc, which offers both resistance and support allowing you to
achieve a range of movement that you won’t think
possible!
Private sessions are arranged according to your schedule and the availability of the teacher.
Prices:
Private sessions are £50 per one hour session (one person.
Shared private sessions are £30 per person per one hour session.

Pregnancy and Post-Natal Classes
Pregnancy: We recommend private tuition if you are
pregnant. Pilates brings great benefit to expectant
mothers, but every pregnancy is different and every
body responds to pregnancy differently. The pilates
program at 16 weeks varies greatly to the program at
36 weeks. And some people feel up to a pretty vigorous
program during their pregnancy and others are just
trying to keep their body healthy and to prepare for the
delivery. Therefore, our experience has shown that
practicing pilates privately during pregnancy always
ensures a safe and effective pilates program. What doeswork is sharing a private session with a friend who
is at a similar level in their pregnancy.
Post-Natal: If you have delivered your baby naturally
and you have had your checkup with your doctor, you
can begin in a regular pilates class 6 weeks after
delivery. If you have never done pilates, you would
start at a beginner class. If you have practiced pilates
before your pregnancy, we recommend dropping down
one level for one term just to get your strength back in
your core muscles. If you have had a c-section, the
above applies except that you need to wait 16 weeks to
ensure you are completely healed.
In both pregnancy and post-natal, you will be assigned
a teacher who is specifically qualified in pilates for
pregnancy and post-natal.
Private sessions are arranged according to your schedule and the availability of the teacher.
Prices:
Private sessions are £50 per one hour session (one person.
Shared private sessions are £30 per person per one hour session.

Alexander Technique
The Alexander Technique is a method that works to
change movement habits in our everyday activities. It is
a simple and practical method for improving ease and
freedom of movement, balance, support and
coordination. The technique teaches the use of the
appropriate amount of effort for a particular activity,
giving you more energy for all your activities. It is not a
series of treatments or exercises, but rather a re-
education of the mind and body. The Alexander
Technique is a method which helps a person discover a
new balance in the body by releasing unnecessary
tension. It can be applied to sitting, lying down,
standing, walking, lifting, and other daily activities.
Private sessions are arranged according to your schedule and the availability of the teacher.
Prices:
Private sessions are £50 per one hour session (one person.
Shared private sessions are £30 per person per one hour session.
