Local businesses in Salford have once again shown their support and commitment to excellence by celebrating their colleagues’ achievements during the Salford Business Awards 2009 Ceremony. Held at The Lowry on Thursday, 30 April the annual Awards Ceremony saw over two hundred guests, some of whom were entrants and finalists, gathered to recognise each other’s professional achievements despite the current economic climate.
The Salford Business Awards is the showcase event of Salford Business Week, a series of business events hosted by the University of Salford, The Chapel Street Business Group and Salford City Council. The events and the hard work contributed by the partners and participants during the week are a clear demonstration of the commitment and promise of Salford’s business community and the organisations which support and encourage them.
Among the local business, education and government personalities in attendance at the Awards Ceremony was Andy Bond, chief executive of ASDA and former graduate of the University of Salford, who spoke on the night in support of the Awards and Salford businesses. Almost 100 organisations entered the awards this year in eight separate categories. Business of the Year Award went to ENER-G for outstanding achievement in all aspects of the company’s performance including growth, vision and leadership.
Derek Duffill, Group Managing Director for ENER-G said: “We are delighted and honoured to win three prestigious Salford Business Awards, which recognise the pioneering work of ENER-G in helping organisations to reduce their carbon footprints and cut energy costs through renewable and efficient power generation. We are extremely proud to be investing, expanding and creating jobs in the city and our success is testimony to our fantastic team of skilled, dedicated and professional people both in Salford and other ENER-G locations across the world.
