NEW WEAPON IN FIGHT AGAINST PAEDOPHILES
The technical expertise at Barkley Plastics was used by British company GSEC1 to develop the XGate case cover - a revoluntionary internet security device that enables parents to moniter and control their child's internet activity via a mobile phone.
A key element in the sleek look of the XGate has come from the technical expertise provided by Barkley Plastics, who has been involved in the cover moulding from concept stage through to manufacture. Deputy chairman Maurice Cassidy commented: “We initially started work on this project in February 2006 and assisted GSEC1 in the development of a viable moulding proposition which would be cost-effective in volume production.
“We are a highly technically skilled company with more than 100 employees and experience across a wide range of market sectors from automotive to industrial products, producing in excess of 80 million mouldings each year.
“This project has been very exciting for us and many of our employees think that the XGate is an excellent product particularly for parents with children at a vulnerable age.”

RYCOTE MICROPHONE DEVELOPMENT
Rycote, specialists in the development of Microphone technologies, asked Barkley Plastics to realise their new Windshield Microphone requirement.
The full windshield microphone system is made up of the following elements:
Modular Suspension (shock mount)
The Modular Suspension is a four point elastic suspension, which completely supports the microphone in a cradle arrangement. The suspension can be used as it comes, with a microphone using a foam gag, or in conjunction with a Windshield & Windjammer.
Modular Windshield (windscreen, blimp or zeppelin)
The Modular Windshield (zeppelin) is slid onto the Modular Suspension, and completely surrounds the microphone & its connector. It protects the microphone from the effects of wind, whilst causing the minimal effect to the sound.
Windjammer (furry cover)
Also launched with the new Modular Windshield system the Windjammer is designed to fit over the Windshield to provide the highest possible protection against extreme wind. The complete system is available in kit form.
