July 2009 - WilSon Supply

30,000 Meters for Calabar Water

Project

The successful supply and delivery of nearly

30,000 domestic water meters has been completed

by WilSon Energy as two container loads of meters

were shipped to Nigeria. As previously highlighted in

the news section of our web site, a complete

new water infrastructure is being installed in the

Calabar region of Nigeria, providing fresh drinking

water to around 29,000 homes, a project which has

been funded by the world bank.

Having already supplied the large bulk water

meters for the monitoring of the service distribution

network, the company, after submitting various

technical submissions and sample meters,

successfully negotiated the contract

for the supply of domestic household meters,

ahead of some of the other, world-wide major meter manufacturers.

Each meter produced was customized with the Water

Company's Logo imprinted on the index cover.

For future AMR every meter has been pre-equipped

with a pulsed output facility as eventually the meters

will be read remotely, Wilson Energy are at the

forefront of this project, having successfully

completed trials of our "Drive By" wireless

AMR system.

Prior to tendering for the next phase of the project

the company are set to supply a complete test bench

to enable the water company to offer a test facility to

their customers.

the consumption used for billing purposes. A

domestic cold water meter will also be installed

on the incoming cold water supply.

A "walk by" wireless data collection system will

be used to collect data prior to the billing process

being carried out. Each meter supplied will have

a wireless communication module fitted and will

be commissioned by WilSon Energy's engineering

team.

Back To School

WilSon Energy has been providing service solutions to

the education sector for both schools and universities.

A number of schools on a national basis have embarked

on the building of new environmentally friendly buildings

utilising the latest renewable technologies, following the

guidelines of new schools building program, adapted from

the latest L2 building regulations.

Wilson Energy have been involved in a number of projects,

firstly providing a solution of delivering an effective

metering, monitoring and data collection system, which

provides key information regarding energy usage and

consumption. Data is displayed in a child friendly format

on a large LCD screen, in the reception area of the

school; this lets the children gain a basic understanding

of the schools carbon footprint in a simple graphical

format.

Recently, WilSon Energy have had the opportunity to

return to the classroom and deliver a lesson to children

in a very simplistic format, allowing them to gain a

basic understanding about energy and the environment,

but more importantly how to save it. This was fun,

whilst encouraging interaction from the children with

child friendly graphics. At the end of the lesson, carried

out at Coddington Primary School, a competition with

prizes was ran to see how much was understood by

the pupils.

The company is now offering this as part of their

service and are looking to expand it across various

educational sectors.

The picture below shows Charlotte Proctor (11)

with her energy certificate and the winning poster

entry. She also received a solar powered toy from the

company as a prize, presented to her, in the Schools

morning assembly, by the Directors of

WilSon Energy.

Large Scale AMR Project for University

Campus
WilSon Energy has recently been awarded a

major contract for the supply of a complete AMR

system for 350 metering points across three university

sites. The wireless radio system installed is collecting

data from; electricity, gas, water and heat

energy meters.

I
nformation is transmitted back to several radio

receivers, where it is then sent by GPRS to host

servers, where the information is then made available

on line, through our energy management system. The

system is independent and operates outside of the

university's IT infrastructure.

The system will be used for energy and financial

analysis, reporting (including exception), bench

marking, bill validation and for the issue of building

energy performance certificates.

The next phase of the project will include tenant

billing.

Calabar Water Project
A complete new water infrastructure is being

installed in the Calabar region of Nigeria, providing

fresh drinking water to 29,000 homes, a project

which is funded by the world bank. WilSon Energy

has recently supplied a quantity of large bulk

water meters for the monitoring of the

service distribution network.

Meters were provided for the scheme, in sizes

ranging from 200mm to 500mm. Both Electro-Magnetic

and mechanical Woltman type meters have now

been installed.
